George Washington Edward Lawrence


Like many men of this era George is a Civil War Veteran.  Interesting that it was very rare for an Adams COunty Pennsylvania Union recruit to have participated in the Gettysburg battle engagement.  They were stationed in other locals.

George and his wife Joanna Chambers had many friends and relatives in the Gettysburg area while he had a daughter move to Altoona and a Son who moved to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

George's daughter Lucy and Lawrence Stich lived near Altoona and ran a beverage company.

Believed to be the Son of Lucy & Lawrence Stich who passed young from blood poisoning shortly after this photo was taken in the Altoona PA area.

Written as Mother by her Children in George's album, indicating Laura Magdalene.  Experts say this J.I. Mumper photo is later 1880's or early 1900's.

Laura Magdalene Daughter of George and Joanna Chambers-Lawrence.  She married Pius Smith in 1887.  Experts say this Mumper photo is early to mid 1880's.
